TextENBucentaure was launched in 1803 having been built in Toulon to the standard 1787 80 gun ship plan designed by Jacques Noel Sane. This French 80 gun two-decked ship (3rd rate) was an extremely powerfully armed warship with a weight of broad side greater than a 98 gun three-decked ship and sailing qualities as good as a 74.
