TextEN | This 44-gun frigate is typical of single-deck warships of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Like most frigates of the day, this particular model can carry many more guns than it is rated for, such as the six at the bow and the two stern deck chasers that I have included gunports for, bringing the total number up to 52. Nearly every European navy operated ships such as this one, with multi-deck ships-of-the-line being far less common, and being most popular with the British anyway. The US Navy also favoured ships of this type, such as the very famous USS Constitution. For example, it resembles the German SMS Thetis, in a scale of 1/600. In 1/700 it could be used for a conversion to SMS Adler. | |
