This class consists of SHINKO, ZENYO, KEIYO, YAMAZUKI, KAMOGAWA, YAMAGIRI, TAMAGAWA and YODOGAWA MARUs, completed between ‘35 and ‘39 for various shipping companies. All were requisitioned, YAMAZUKI, TAMAGAWA and ZENYO MARUs by the IJA, SHINKO, KEIYO, KAMOGAWA, YAMAGIRI and YODOGAWA MARUs by the IJN in ’41. SHINKO MARU served as an auxiliary minelayer, KAMOGAWA and KEIYO MARUs as auxiliary aircraft transports, YAMAGIRI MARU as an auxiliary transport , YODOGAWA MARU as an auxiliary collier/oiler. All were bombed or torpedoed and sunk between Feb ’42 and Oct ’44.

Source Combrig: 3/06/1900: Launched as POTOSI for Pacific Steam Navigation Co Ltd, Liverpool Sold before completion to the Russian Volunteer Fleet. Her original fittings were stripped out by the shipyard & refurbished to accommodate 30 x Officers and 2000 x Troops.
17/09/1900: Sailed from the Tyne bound for Odessa, where she loaded stores and troops, for the garrison at Port Arthur and she was placed under the command of the Russian Admiral for the Far East.
1905: In use as hospital ship during the Russo-Japanese War & sunk at Port Arthur.
1906: Subsequently raised and taken over by the Japanese Navy Department.
28/04/1908: Sailed from Kobe with 781 emigrants to Santos, Brazil. 1910: Chartered to Osaka Shosen for their Kobe-Keelung service, with accommodation for 36 x 1st, 40 x 2nd and 451 x 3rd Class passengers.
1916: Started a new service to the South American East coast via Cape Town.
1920: Large overhaul at Mitsubishi’s yard at Nagasaki
1939: Converted into a crab cannery operating in the Sea of Okhotsk
08/08/1945: Sunk off the coast of Kamchatka by Russian aircraft.

Mongolia ex Russian Hospital ship:
-Launched in Austria in 1901.
-Conduct private passenger transport on Vladivostok Nagasaki-Shanghai route. Famous for the comfort of the facilities.
-Remodeled as a hospital ship in 1904 due to deterioration of Japan-Russia relations. After the post-war order, he was captured by the Japanese army but released by the Hague Agreement.
-Sold to Russian shipping company in 1906, largely renovated in 1920, purchased by American company in 1929, dismantled in 1932 Newport.
-Total length of 109m, drainage volume of 2981 tons, 3-stage expansion lepsil unit, speed 17 knots

Manchuria:
-Launched in 1901. Engaged in the Dalian-Qingdao-Shanghai route as a Russian ship Manijuriya.
-In 1904, while being repaired in Nagasaki, Japan was taken over in the Japan-Russian War and renamed Manshu Maru and engaged in transportation between Japan and Manchuria on an Osaka merchant ship.
-In 1906, he entered the military register as a notification ship Manshu of the Japanese Navy.
-Since then, it is used for surveying and security in China. It was well received with luxurious interiors.
-Sunk as a target in 1933.

-Launched at Richardson Shipyard in the UK in 1900. Russia purchased and named Kazan for construction.
-1904 As an auxiliary warship, the Japanese army floats and catches what was bottomed out in the gossip, and changed its name to the 1906 Shishido Maru.
-Total length of 122 m, total tonnage of 6011 tons, 3-stage training Lepsilo between two machines, speed 14 knots
